Mediation Process

As the mediator I will meet individually and privately with each client and explain the mediation process and outline other means of dispute resolution and or signpost other means of support.

If the client wants to try mediation I will write to the other party and invite them to another individual private meeting with me. I will once again explain the mediation process and outline other means of dispute resolution and or signpost other means of support and invite them to give their views about whether or not they want to mediate.

If they also want mediation I will arrange a meeting at a mutually convenient time where both clients met together with me. With my support I help both sides to air their thoughts and feelings and to discuss their problems and aims.

In the mediation meetings we all work through various options and ideas so that both clients can co-create  a mutually agreed, workable long-term agreement. I make sure that the discussions are person centered so that the agreement “feels right’ and “is right” for both client and of course the children.

In mediation the clients are the centre of concern and in control of their futures.

In some cases client feel unable to be together in the same room. In these cases mediation could be conducted with clients in separate rooms. Please discuss this with me.

If mediation is not appropriate, once a client attends the first meeting, known as a MIAM’s, [more info] I can sign legal forms, C100, [more info / download] that will enable the client to take their case to court.
